because I can’t quit thinking about it…

I just had to say that if you ever get the chance to read the story “A Long Story” by Beth Brant, do it. It will shatter your heart. Two alternating stories, one set in the early 1890s and the other in the late 1970s, of women whose children are stolen from them by this unjust government. The stories so beautifully, so heartrendingly mirror one another. I’ve now read a mere three short stories and a single poem by Beth Brant, and yet she has barreled onto my list of all-time favorite authors in a big way.

#93. Read 100 general fiction short stories. (1/100)
